The editor has guides that help you, among other things, to center elements more easily. The guides are these orange lines that appear when you move something around. 

But, sometimes you need to be able to move freely without the constraints of these guides. This can be achieved by pressing SHIFT while moving your mouse, you'll will no longer feel the "snapping" of the guides, this will give you more precision.
